Shear re-elected chair; Wallen retains vice chair after commission vote

After discussion, the motion was amended to consider the chair position separately. The commission voted by voice to reappoint Chair Shear for another term. A separate motion to appoint Bana Smith as vice chair failed for lack of a second. Commissioners then moved and seconded to reappoint Vice Chair Wallen, and that motion passed unanimously.
Vice Chair Wallen had earlier outlined a historical practice of balancing appointments between those named by the governor and those named by the legislature, and she provided attendance statistics for commissioners across meeting types to illustrate expectations for leadership roles.
The commission completed the rest of its agenda, heard brief commissioner comments and adjourned.
