Syracuse council appoints two to planning commission, approves lease and passes waste-water report

The Syracuse City Council unanimously approved a slate of routine and administrative items at its meeting, appointing two planning commission members, approving a lease with a local BMX organization and adopting the annual municipal wastewater planning report.
By motion and second, the council approved proposed resolution R26-13 to appoint Dylan Marshant and Gage Thomas to fill the remainder of open seats on the Syracuse City Planning Commission; the appointees were invited to receive additional information from economic development and the planning department and will be sworn in.
On the consent agenda the council approved proposed ordinances 26-05 (amending title 2 on government records retention), 26-06 (amending title 2 on appointments of local districts), proposed resolution R26-11 (amending the Syracuse city personnel policies and procedures manual), and proposed ordinance 26-07 (a zone change near 2600 West Quail Bluff Drive from residential R1 to professional office). None of those items were pulled for discussion and the motion to approve consent items 5A–D passed unanimously.
The council also authorized administration to execute a lease agreement with Analopee BMX for commercial use of city property structured as a public-private partnership; that motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.
Robert, the city public works director, presented the 2025 municipal wastewater planning annual report and said the system had no sewer overflows or backups this reporting year, crediting regular maintenance. The council approved resolution R26-12 to submit the report to the Utah Division of Water Quality.
The meeting concluded with mayor and council reports, a community announcement about a Miss Syracuse pageant event on March 20 and a motion to move into closed session to discuss a real estate matter.
