Eastchester Science Olympiad team heads to state after regional top‑five finish

Several students — including Hudson Weissen, Jaynu, Ragini Khanna and Viom Paranic — spoke about event challenges, teamwork and the educational value of the program. Hudson described a Boomilever build that weighed 13 grams and had to hold roughly 33 pounds for competition scoring.
Coaches and the superintendent thanked the Eastchester School Foundation and district administrators for enabling travel to state competition. The presentation noted that Science Olympiad combines hands‑on engineering events with academic tests and that qualifying for state is a district milestone.
The board invited the team onto the stage for recognition and said it would capture a group photo at the meeting’s end.
