UDOT demonstrates Numetric crash‑data platform to TAC; access and training offered
Summary
UDOT’s data and safety manager demonstrated the Numetric crash‑data platform (referred to in meeting as 'New Metric/Numetric'), highlighting tools for crash query, network screening, safety analysis, polygon/route filters, and report export. Staff can grant access and provide one‑on‑one training; confirmed data are recommended through Dec. 31, 2024.

Priyanka Neupane, UDOT’s data and safety manager, demonstrated the Numetric crash‑data platform and invited TAC members to request access.
Neupane described three primary Numetric features useful to local agencies: a crash query that can filter by geolocation, severity, crash type (pedestrian/bicycle/distracted driving), and time window; a network‑screening tool that ranks top intersections and segments by an EPDO (equivalent property damage only) score; and a safety‑analysis module that suggests countermeasures for specified route mile points. She emphasized that users should rely on confirmed crash records through Dec. 31, 2024 because the 2025 data are still undergoing quality checks.
Demonstration examples included drawing a polygon around Salt Lake City to show fatal and suspected serious‑injury crashes, exporting CSV/PDF reports, drawing circles for intersection summaries, and isolating pedestrian‑ and bicycle‑involved crashes. Neupane said narratives are available for many crashes (with 2024 narrative coverage incomplete) and noted the platform sources police crash reports and a University of Utah database prior to feeding Numetric.
Neupane offered to set up access and one‑on‑one tutorials and to share a signup link and resources in the meeting chat. WFRC and TAC members suggested a future, deeper walkthrough of the dashboard at a subsequent meeting.
No formal action was taken; staff agreed to follow up on account provisioning and training requests.
