Council issues proclamations, highlights races and public-safety events

Council members observed a moment of personal privilege to remember Dalia Giuliani and offered condolences for her family.
In the city manager's report the council heard logistical updates: the Canyons race (multiple distances) will take place downtown with thousands of participants and spectators, planning staff will propose modifications to historic design-review steps to streamline paint and awning approvals, police located and arrested a wanted individual following an extended effort, and the police department is hosting a DEA drug takeback event on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station 3. Staff also described a front-lawn sustainability project at city hall with Rotary Club support; council noted a Rotary donation of approximately $15,000 toward benches and site amenities.
