Milton council authorizes up to $260,000 to replace four public-works vehicles

Public Works Director Madden asked the council to authorize replacement of three budgeted vehicles and one additional van for water-quality work. The 2026 asset replacement fund originally budgeted $240,000 for three vehicles; the council authorized purchases not to exceed $260,000 to cover the additional van and outfitting costs.
Director Madden described the recommended vehicles — two Ram 2500 crew cabs for storm and street work, a Ram 1500 extended cab for water, and a full-size van to replace a 2017 Nissan used for water-quality work. He said the older vehicles generally exceed 60,000–100,000 miles, that some will be repurposed for stormwater compliance, and that three would go to auction. Madden said electric-vehicle options were considered but the city's terrain and emergency-equipment needs dictated the current selections.
Council Member Whan moved to approve the purchase "not to exceed $260,000," and the motion was seconded. After a brief public question confirming that outfitting costs were included, the council voted in favor and the motion passed.
