Council approves Trailer Works CUP and North 6th Street drainage easements

Conditional Use Permit: Council approved a conditional use permit (CUP 2025-2) for "Trailer Works," a small appointment-only utility, horse- and livestock-trailer repair operation at 2101 Holland Corner Road. Applicant Michael McClain told council he intends to limit customers to appointments, operate from an expanded detached garage, and serve rural/agricultural needs. Planning staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval and council voted 8–0.
North 6th Street drainage easements: The council also authorized acquisition of permanent and temporary easements, by agreement or condemnation if necessary, to advance the North 6th Street Drainage Improvement Project. Public Works Director Greg Benton said the project will install roughly 1,200 linear feet of storm piping, curb and inlet improvements and connect upstream flows to the Shingle Creek outfall — completing a key segment needed to relieve recurring flooding and provide maintenance access. Council approved the ordinance authorizing easement acquisition 8–0.
Both actions were presented as routine items with limited public opposition and passed without amendment.
