Nate, who presented the staff recommendation, said Whitaker is positioned to complete the work within the current fiscal year and that awarding the work now would avoid further delay caused by the incumbent contractor’s schedule. Board members confirmed that the contract will include standard timeline expectations and liquidated-damages language.
Board discussion noted the district remains within the project’s allotted budget and that adding Whitaker will allow installation of new pumps at 4450 West. Following a motion and second, members present voted to approve the award by voice vote.
Staff said they will proceed with contract finalization and include timeline and damages provisions consistent with district procurement practices.
