Board approves $3,500 reimbursement grant to build a lean-to for large domestic animals at county shelter

Autumn Pumford, the countys animal control director, asked the board to approve a reimbursement grant of about $3,500 to fund a small lean-to and fencing in a pasture/paddock behind the animal shelter to accommodate large domestic animals such as goats, sheep, horses and the occasional cow or donkey. "We're looking to put up a little lean-to in pasture paddock behind the shelter," she said, explaining the shelter sometimes receives larger domestic animals and needs a designated space.
Maintenance staff offered to install fencing and the county obtained a vendor quote for the lean-to. Vice Chairman Peterson moved to approve the grant as presented and allow appropriate signatures; the motion was supported and carried by voice vote. The grant, like prior years reimbursement grants, will be paid after expenditures are submitted and approved.
