Wood River Health seeks $20,000 from Hopkinton as patient demand climbs

Cro said Wood River had recently received a large federal capital earmark (described in the meeting as "almost a million, 750,000") and that the earmark is restricted to capital projects. "That was a federal earmark. It is designated for capital improvement only, not for operating costs," she said, noting the center plans to remodel and expand its waiting room to cope with growing demand.
During questions, council members asked how much a town grant would affect operations. Cro said any increase helps but acknowledged the town request is a small portion of the center's operating budget. Council members emphasized budget constraints, including a 4% cap close to being reached, and said they would consider revisiting the request once final revenue numbers and school budget figures are known.
No formal vote was taken; council members said they would revisit the grant request during the remaining budget work sessions.
