At its May 2026 meeting, the Davie County Schools Board of Education approved routine business and a budget resolution that included two small changes from the prior work session: a final quote for a gym project that district staff said "came in at $27,000" and the addition of an LED lighting upgrade at Krenner Elementary.
The board approved minutes from the prior regular meeting and the budget work session after a motion by Jeff and a second from Stephanie. The consent agenda was later approved on a motion from Joe and a second from Stephanie. For the budget follow-up item, finance staff told the board there were only two adjustments to the version presented at the work session: the gym project final quote and the Krenner LED lighting item. Chair then asked for a motion to accept Mr. Harris's recommendation; the motion was moved by Joe, seconded by Stephanie and recorded as carried.
"We got the final quote on that. Came in at $27,000, a little bit less than what I forecasted," Mr. Clay Harris said regarding the gym project. Board members were told the next step is county approval and the district is awaiting action on the state budget that will determine final allotments for next year.
Votes and procedure: motions were made and seconded in open session. The transcript records each of the key motions as carried; the meeting record states "Motion carries. 70" after several votes. The board did not record a separate roll-call tally in the transcript beyond those statements at the microphone.
The board moved on to committee and staff reports after approving the budget resolution.
