Pinckney board names Dr. Tammy Haymon Pathfinder principal

The Pinckney Community Schools Board of Education formally announced the appointment of Dr. Tammy Haymon as principal of Pathfinder at its May 11 meeting.

Administrators described Haymon’s interview and instructional background as the basis for the appointment, saying she was identified during the dean search as a candidate who could step into the principal role and lead a smooth transition. “We all said, at least I know I said she didn’t interview for the dean position. She just interviewed for the principal position,” an administrator said, explaining the decision.

Dr. Haymon, who was introduced to the board and community at the meeting, thanked staff and residents for their support. “Thank you. I’m so excited. I’m just thrilled that you are putting this trust in me and that the community is putting this in me,” she said.

Board members and administrators praised Haymon’s record and stressed an intentional transition plan. The administration said it will post the now-open dean position at Pathfinder and begin a search to fill that role. The board also noted other upcoming staffing transitions at the high school and said it expects to have a new assistant principal in place by the June 1 meeting.

The meeting moved from the appointment announcement into the consent agenda and a full slate of routine administrative items. The board scheduled a public reception to honor outgoing long-time members and retirees at the June 1 meeting, and administrators highlighted end-of-year events including graduation on May 31.
