Red Oak Independent School District recognized a slate of campus and district honorees at its regular board meeting, celebrating Teachers of the Year and student 'Top Hawks' across grades.
Deputy Superintendent Michelle Alera introduced the district’s Teacher of the Year process and the selection criteria — prepared, grit, character and service — and announced campus and district-level winners. The board read statements attributed to the honorees emphasizing persistence, intentional routines and student growth. Among the named teachers were Vanessa Claust, Kaylee Crum, Irma Martinez, Kaylee Weeks, Nicole Pinner, Hannah Schwieger, Jacosta Maldonado Mullet and Tangela Mason.
The meeting also named student Top Hawks for the grading period. Elementary honorees included Bryce Scott, Rihanna Martinez, Jonah Corns and Skye Rooms; Shields and Shotwell winners included Ferguson Bell, Dakota Westbrook and Nicole Wells. Secondary honorees included Aiyala Crawford, Jaquinn Rowland, Arabella Jackson, Corey Montgomery, Hannah Edwards and Roman Ershadi.
The board announced Hawk Talks and a Hawk Staff Spotlight program for the 2025‑26 school year. Chick‑fil‑A is sponsoring the prizes: $25 gift cards for elementary winners, $50 for middle and high school winners, and a $100 staff-spotlight award; sponsor representatives were acknowledged during the meeting. Michelle Carson was named the staff spotlight winner.
The recognitions portion concluded with applause and an invitation for families to take photos on stage. The board then proceeded to the regular agenda.
