During the citizens forum, Councilor Steve Kelly of Dennis Hill Road addressed the School Committee and praised recent leadership and progress in the district’s work to exit receiverhip. He told the committee he supports returning local governance but asked for specific benchmark dates or target deadlines the public can use to measure progress on exiting receiverhip.
"I would like to see frankly some benchmark dates or goal dates or deadlines as to when we expect to get out of receiverhip," Kelly said, noting that dates could be postponed if circumstances change but that firm targets help maintain focus and accountability.
Committee members thanked Kelly for his remarks and the administration said it would pass his sentiments to the commissioner. No formal action was taken on the request during the meeting.
