"Be it therefore resolved that the board authorizes the general counsel, the designee, to make the following administrative revisions to the policy manual without further board action," read the resolution as read aloud by Mr. Jenkins during the meeting.
Board members asked for clarity about whether reassigning responsibility would diminish the board's ability to enforce policy. Miss Green and Maria Stewart said districts vary and the administration favors assigning a "senior leader" of a division (not necessarily a single department head) as the responsible party while preserving the superintendent and general counsel as responsible parties where appropriate. General Counsel Bailey said the intent is to let the policy office reassign responsibility where a more specific individual or senior leader should be accountable, rather than reassign every policy automatically.
