Centerville resident urges commissioners to increase school funding for early grades

"One of the main reasons that we chose Centerville in Queen Anne's County is the quality of education for our children," Denafhrio said, adding that state blueprint requirements and current budget constraints are holding local schools back. She said students need "more support" and "more teachers," and asked commissioners to consider fulfilling as many of the county public schools' budgetary needs as possible.
The comment was made during the press and public comment period, when speakers are limited to three minutes and the commission collects written submissions for longer remarks. Denafhrio identified herself and provided her Centerville residency; she also noted that her husband's active-duty military service leaves the family commuting to Fort Me.
