County workgroup reviews CDBG environmental reviews, covered bridges and transportation schedule

Officials said a third project might be eligible for review but paperwork had not yet been posted.
Participants also discussed covered bridges along Sherman's Creek and the potential to create pull‑outs, parking and small picnic or canoe access areas tied to those historic structures. "Each one of those could have the potential ... to serve as a small respit park," the moderator said, noting parking, landowner permission and preservation constraints.
Transportation workgroup scheduling was raised: Jackson Township said it expects a transportation meeting in the last week of the month and invited county participation to discuss bridge protection and access improvements.
Next steps: staff will follow up on the CDBG environmental reviews, invite the county bridge inspector to future work sessions, and coordinate covered‑bridge protection options with township partners.
