Students honored in Panther Spotlight; Natural Helpers and athletes describe 'life-changing' retreat

At the Griffith Public Schools board meeting the Panther Spotlight segment featured the Natural Helpers leadership program and recognition of student-athlete achievements. Mrs. Mosley, identified as the Natural Helpers advisor, said the program launched this year and that a recent three-day retreat "was a huge success," and described plans for juniors who attended to mentor middle-school students next year.
Students who attended the retreat spoke about the experience. Miss Larson, a teacher who participated, said it was "the most incredible experience" she has had as a teacher. Student Natalie Watkins recommended the program, telling peers to "put everything aside" and go on the retreat. Student Kenny Gong described the retreat as "life-changing."
Coach Taylor introduced several student-athletes and enumerated accomplishments: Aaron Wilson placed seventh overall in the 60-meter dash at state and holds an indoor school record; Nate Bisac is a two-time indoor state qualifier and holds the high-jump indoor record; relay teams and other athletes also set indoor records and qualified at state, reflecting program growth over the past three seasons.
The board thanked students and coaches for their achievements and invited families to continue supporting programs through fundraising and community involvement.
