The presentation noted a projected year‑end gap on current projections but also identified reimbursements and offsets (for example, Medicaid and other fund transfers) that would narrow the deficit.
During budget deliberations the board discussed feedback from the town’s board of finance, recent town meeting action and public comment. The board also restored a full‑time (1.0 FTE) special‑education teacher position that had been reduced to 0.9 FTE; administrators said a new incoming student with needs observed over vacation prompted the decision to restore capacity for transitions and related services.
The board chair called for a motion to approve the proposed budget and the motion passed unanimously. Members thanked staff, teachers and residents who attended the town meeting and finance hearings.
