Satterfield said 17 people applied and one candidate advanced to the final round; the board approved the appointment on a unanimous voice vote (mover: Mr. Mikes; second: President Zaydum).
Marcian Hessler was appointed assistant principal at Verrado Middle after Satterfield described a search of 17 applicants; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved Dr. Jennifer Benjamin as deputy superintendent of academic success following a process that Satterfield described as narrowing 17 applicants to two finalists; Dr. Benjamin received praise from Superintendent Davidson and several board members before the motion passed unanimously.
Dr. Benjamin later presented the classified evaluation instrument — described during the meeting as a 153‑page combined evaluations document — which the board adopted after a motion from Ms. Wallace and a second from Mr. Mikes. Board members said the instrument creates individualized evaluations tailored to each classified position and will support more meaningful feedback conversations with employees.
The board approved special education boundary changes intended to relieve overcrowding at Palm Valley by shifting several special‑education seats to Troy Gilbert. Dr. Benjamin enumerated the zones moved in the transcript as "30 c from Palm Valley; 40 a, b, c and d from Palm Valley to Troy Gilbert; and 41 a and c." She said families in the affected areas were notified and may pursue open enrollment when space is available. The motion to adopt the boundary changes passed unanimously.
Board members closed the meeting with thanks and a group photo of new hires; Mr. Owens moved to adjourn and the motion passed unanimously.
