District advances feasibility study with Nexus; board approves drone flyover for building surveys

Board members said Nexus teams conducted detailed mechanical and electrical walkthroughs and are collecting visual and operational information to refine the long list of needs into a prioritized plan. "They come armed with cameras and ears and they listen," a board member said of the consultant team.
The board said it will form a feasibility task force open to residents and staff; there is a public signup on the district website and the board encouraged diverse perspectives. Staff will complete a Nexus survey during a staff meeting to collect input on temperature, layout, and other building conditions.
As part of the study, the board authorized a limited unmanned aircraft system (drone) flyover to capture aerial footage and interior 360 scans during a school break so students are not present. The motion to permit Nexus to fly and capture imagery was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; district staff member Bob will accompany the consultant teams during site work.
The board emphasized community engagement in the feasibility process and said a task-force meeting is planned for late April or early May. The authorization for aerial and interior scans does not alter any funding decisions; any capital projects or referendum questions would be brought back to the board for separate action.
