Milton advances healthcare sciences construction; district maintenance facility to go to bid May 1

District staff told the board that JP Cullen is officially on board for the Milton High School healthcare sciences project and procurement, audiovisual scope and furniture/equipment orders are finalized so the project can begin on schedule. Staff said they have a plan to coexist safely with summer-school activities and expect to turn the space over in mid-August for installation of furniture and equipment.
On the district maintenance facility, planners reported completion of the construction documents phase and scheduled the official bid release for Friday, May 1 with bids due May 28. The district expects to review bids and potentially return to the finance committee with a recommendation in early June and seek board approval on June 8. Staff outlined site features — a dedicated semi-truck entrance, laydown and storage area, added landscaping (14 trees), lighting and expanded interior space from about 5,000 to 8,000 square feet plus a 2,000-square-foot mezzanine for storage.
Project presenters outlined a tentative construction timeline that would begin in fall 2026 (pending favorable bids and board approval) and target occupancy in May or June 2027. Staff said they had secured plan approvals with city planning bodies and coordinated with the fire department regarding apparatus access.
