The Milton School District Board of Education approved a change to its employee wellness incentive that will require spouses covered under a family health insurance plan to complete an annual wellness visit for the employee to qualify for the $400 family incentive.
HR committee staff presented the proposal as a continuation of the district’s established optional wellness incentive program. As described at the meeting, eligible employees earn $200 for a single plan and $400 for a family plan by completing an annual wellness visit; the board approved an amendment to require both the employee and spouse to complete the visit for the family incentive to be paid, effective July 1, 2026.
HR presenters said the change is intended to encourage spouses to complete annual visits, improve health outcomes and, over time, reduce health-care costs for the district. The motion to adopt the spousal participation requirement was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board’s action will require HR to update communications and administrative processes ahead of the July 1 effective date.
