Milton School Board elects Annette Smith president, fills officer posts by unanimous ballot

Annette Smith was elected president of the Milton School District Board of Education after nominations and a unanimous ballot, the board announced at its regular meeting. The board also elected John Dumer as vice president, Tracy Hannah as treasurer and Jennifer Johns as clerk; Johns was also selected as the board’s CISA 2 delegate.
The chair opened nominations for president, called for nominations three times and closed them before the board cast a unanimous ballot. A slate had earlier been proposed to fill the offices; when asked whether he would accept a nomination for president, John Dumer declined and the ballot favored Smith. Board members voiced support and the chair declared the motions carried after the voice vote.
The officer elections were procedural business taken near the start of the meeting; the newly elected officers will assume the duties associated with their offices and will appear on upcoming agendas in their roles.
