Columbus School District board approves interim bank co-signer, accepts asset report and green-lights summer courses

The Columbus School District board voted Feb. 23 to authorize the superintendent to serve as an interim co-signer on the district Farmers and Merchants account while the district recruits a permanent business manager, and approved a routine asset-protection monitoring report and summer school course proposals.

Board members voted by voice to adopt the agenda and then approved the superintendent co-signer authorization, which the board described as an interim operational measure while the business manager position is vacant. The board also approved the administration’s recommendation that the district is "in compliance" on OE‑7 asset protection, but directed a clerical correction changing the report year from 2026 to 2025 so the document reflects review of the prior year.

The board approved summer school course proposals presented at a previous workshop and passed the superintendent’s consent agenda, which included the business services contract, a graduation request, a Neola policy update and the human-resources report. Trustees also approved the board consent agenda, noting donations and minutes from Jan. 12, Jan. 26 and Feb. 9. Donations acknowledged for February included $1,000 from Chemical Columbus Chemical Industries to FBLA, an anonymous $500 gift to the music department and $100 in art supplies from Ace Hardware; February donations totaled $1,600 and year-to-date donations were listed as $53,598.77.

All motions passed by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were read into the record.
