Two Bold seniors urge continued participation in Together 4.0 leadership conference

At the Dec. 22 public forum, seniors Ava Schulman and Key Jansen described attending the MSHSL Together 4.0 student leadership conference on Dec. 3 in Willmar. They said breakout sessions emphasized moral courage and leadership qualities such as integrity, humility, respect and courage, and included activities on translating athletic teamwork into life skills.
Ava and Key described a student exercise that produced a "student experience statement" they said should be a goal for Bold extracurricular programs: every student should experience a sense of belonging rooted in respectful, honest communication and genuine relationships. They told the board the conference left attendees inspired and recommended the district continue to send students when space is available.
Board members asked how participants were selected; the students said teams nominated participants and the district limit was a 12-person cap. The board thanked the students for the presentation.
