Kearney R‑I showcases Bitty Bulldog clothing closet and toy lending library

Early Education Center staff updated the Kearney R‑I Board about two new family resources: a Bitty Bulldog clothing closet and a developmental toy lending library.
"We have collected donations of a number of different things from newborn all the way through 5-year-oldish size," Amanda Texter, a social worker and parents-as-teachers educator, told the board, describing clothing, shoes, toiletries and feeding supplies available to families.
Principal Amy Ba and staff credited community partners — including the Carne Optimus Club and local donations made during holiday events — and named staff and volunteers who help operate and sanitize the inventory, including Britney King (parents' teachers coordinator), nurse Caitlyn Harstad and administrative assistant Kim Evans. National Junior Honor Society students help sort donated items.
The lending library is intended to let families borrow developmental toys much like checking out library materials, administrators said; the program has already helped families during holiday periods. Staff invited community members to contribute in-season clothing and gently used toys.
Board members thanked staff for the initiative and for making the resources available confidentially to families.
