Louisburg students filmed for Seven Mindsets lessons; choir reports Carnegie Hall performance

At the May 11 meeting, the board highlighted two student‑facing programs: participation in Seven Mindsets’ student‑led lesson project and the high‑school choir’s recent New York City tour, including a Carnegie Hall performance.

Miss Wilson and district staff said Seven Mindsets invited the district to contribute student interviews for new lesson content; 20 students across buildings took part after parental consent. Miss Wilson said the vendor’s goal is "kids teaching kids," and staff distributed the draft lessons and links for trustees to review.

Student response: Superintendent summarized answers recorded by student leader Carter Mason Willis. On being named a Seven Mindsets leader, Carter said it "felt extremely rewarding" and that the curriculum "helps teach right versus wrong, good and positive attitudes." Carter said the experience made him reflect on choices and encouraged him to help other students by sharing advice.

Choir trip: Board members and the choir director presented a slide show of the April New York City trip. Presenters described long rehearsal days, visits to city landmarks and a performance at Carnegie Hall. Chaperones and staff—listed by presenters as Jenny Yoder, Jennifer Meek and others—were thanked for logistical work, and students described the trip as a memorable community experience that combined performance and cultural learning.

Next steps: Staff said the Seven Mindsets lessons will be used as draft content for classroom work and that the choir will continue touring on the usual three‑year cycle.
