Tipton board honors students and staff; Superintendent Dr. Ryan Glaze receives Blue Future Award on retirement

The Tipton Community School Corporation used its May 12 meeting to recognize a string of student and staff achievements and to honor retiring Superintendent Dr. Ryan Glaze.
Elementary students Daily Campbell and Hazel Parr were recognized for scoring in the top 2% statewide on ILEARN math checkpoints. JR Dover, the district's coordinator for the multilingual program, introduced fourth grader Karina Morales and noted she exited the English language services program this year after achieving the highest proficiency score among the district's second-language learners.
The board also recognized athletic accomplishments: the Tipton Middle School wrestling program and several individuals for record seasons, a middle-school golf team that won the MIC and an expanded roster, and members of the Tipton bass club who won the state championship at Lake Patoka and qualified for nationals; the bass club's overnight trip request for nationals (June 24–27, Lake Cumberland, KY) was included in the consent agenda and approved.
Superintendent Dr. Ryan Glaze was presented with a Blue Future Award honoring his leadership since 2020. Board remarks cited facility improvements, classroom upgrades, a 100% high school graduation rate, expanded early learning and strengthened curriculum alignment as examples of his accomplishments. Dr. Glaze accepted the recognition and the board presented a framed gift and photographs.
This segment of the meeting was ceremonial and celebratory; no substantive policy decisions were made beyond consent‑agenda approvals that included field trips and donations.
