Uintah County commissioners approved acceptance of a Bureau of Land Management right-of-way grant (UT0106718159) on April 26 to realign Mary Cashin Canyon Road northeast of Red Fleet.
Mike Cook of Community Development described the multi-year project to reroute the road so a larger portion lies on BLM-managed land, explaining that Simplot cooperated by building a short section on its property and that the BLM had granted the right-of-way. The realignment runs from the bottom of Little Brush Creek Canyon to Searle Ranch Road on Diamond and is intended to create a more consistent public route while protecting private property.
A motion to accept and sign the BLM grant was made and approved by voice vote. County staff said they have the original grant documents ready for signature.
The acceptance enables the county to proceed with legal and construction steps necessary to complete the realignment under the terms of the BLM grant and any agreements with Simplot.
