County accepts $382,064 OHV grant for Buckskin Hills Enduro Training Course

The Uintah County Commission approved acceptance of an OHV grant of $382,064 (APP-005229) to construct an Enduro training course at Buckskin Hills Recreation Complex.
Jenny Byrd, purchasing and grants, presented the award from the Division of Outdoor Recreation. The project scope includes a half-mile obstacle track with progressive skill lanes, rider amenities, a three-lane course, perimeter fencing, a pavilion and a vault restroom. The county’s cash match is minimal—$280 for signage—while its total match obligation is $22,654.70, most of which will be provided as employee labor and volunteer in-kind consulting and engineering services.
Mike Cook, who led the project application, told the commission the county received the full amount requested. A commissioner made a motion to approve the OHV contract as presented; the motion passed by voice vote.
County staff said operations and maintenance were considered in the application; the county expects minimal ongoing maintenance costs. The project will proceed subject to contract execution and standard grant terms.
