The California Architects Board received operational updates from the Department of Consumer Affairs and paused business to recognize long-serving architect member Tien Feng.
Arthur Bobakanyan (DCA) reminded members to file their annual Form 700 financial disclosures (due April 1) and noted that departing members must file leaving-office statements within 30 days. He reported the Enforcement Academy relaunch this spring (four-day training with staff from over 20 boards and bureaus) and additional academy dates planned for August and October 2026. DCA also announced a DEI Executive Steering Committee and a new DCA subcommittee (15 members) that will meet bi-monthly; DCA staff flagged the governor's reorganization effective July 1 that splits the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency into two agencies and confirmed DCA is participating in transition work groups.
Later in the meeting the board ceremonially recognized member Tien Feng for his service from Feb. 6, 2014 through June 30, 2025 and for his term as board president from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022; Secretary Brass read a certificate noting his contributions to consumer protection and the profession.
Next steps: DCA staff will continue to keep board leadership apprised of orientation and transition milestones; the board presented its recognition materials and planned a photo after the meeting.
