Oakland School District 1 trustees voted Feb. 11 to accept an offer of $175,000 for the districts Washington property, with district staff estimating a net of roughly $165,000 after closing costs.
Superintendent Jeff Clark summarized the negotiations, saying the property had been listed at $200,000 with no movement before the recent offer. "Their offer came in at $175,000... we would walk away at $165,000 to the district," Clark told the board, describing the buyer as a group aiming to keep the site open for community activities such as T-ball, weekend markets and dog-park-style amenities rather than development.
Board members discussed the community value of the buyers intent and noted that while the district did not receive the full asking price, selling the property reduces ongoing maintenance responsibilities for the district. The board then moved and voted to accept the offer and authorized signature of the purchase documents.
Superintendent Clark said he would sign the offer and complete closing paperwork the following day. The board recorded the acceptance by voice vote; no detailed roll-call tally was read into the meeting minutes during the public session.
Next steps include completing closing tasks and coordinating with buyers on any conditions or community-use agreements discussed during negotiations.
