Parents press C A Beard board over timing of communication after alleged staff-student incident

A parent told the C A Beard Memorial School Corporation board during public comment that they had seen social-media posts alleging "inappropriate conversations between a school employee and a student" and criticized the district for not notifying parents directly.

"Parents deserve to know this stuff from the leaders of our school, not the internet," the parent said, asking why information had been withheld and whether there might be additional victims.

Superintendent Mr. Bainy responded that such cases are "probably the most frustrating part of my job," saying the district had relied on information from the law enforcement agency that conducted the investigation and that the district had been kept "in the loop" by investigators. He said the district would be more vocal "when we can be vocal." Legal counsel interrupted during the exchange to note the board had been advised on communications.
