The Red Oak Independent School District board on May 11 approved guaranteed maximum prices (GMPs) for two major construction projects: the new Shirley B. Jones Elementary School and a Career & Technical Education (CTE) center.
Dr. Johnston presented the final bid packages. The board approved the third bid package for Shirley B. Jones Elementary — a GMP listed in meeting materials as $33,667,171 — by unanimous vote after a motion and second. Later in the meeting trustees considered and approved the CTE project GMP of $59,822,302, also by a 7–0 vote.
Board discussion noted this was the final GMP presentation for both projects and that the CTE package consolidated multiple elements into a single contract. Motion language referenced the George’s General Contractor proposals for each project.
Both approvals followed the district’s public board procedures and were recorded in the meeting minutes; the projects will proceed under the terms presented by the district’s construction management and the recommended contractors.
