Legislature adopts room-occupancy tax law, appoints library trustee, approves auction services and honors WWII veteran
Summary
At its June 21 meeting the Franklin County Legislature adopted a Room Occupancy Tax local law, appointed Margot Lynn Gold to the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library Board (term to Dec. 31, 2021), authorized an agreement with Auctions International for online surplus auctions, and honored World War II veteran Melbourne G. Clark.
The Franklin County Legislature completed several smaller but notable actions in its June meetings.
The board adopted a local Room Occupancy Tax law following a public hearing and the statutory seven-day desk period. The Clerk was directed to advertise the new law as required by Municipal Home Rule Law.
The Legislature also appointed Margot Lynn Gold of Saranac Lake to the Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library Board of Trustees for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2021.
The County Manager, after evaluating three vendors, was authorized to execute an agreement with Auctions International for online surplus-asset auction services, subject to County Attorney review.
Separately, the Legislature paused to honor World War II veteran Melbourne G. Clark and commended the North Country Honor Flight Organization for arranging a special honoring event at Alice Hyde Assisted Living Center on June 22 so Mr. Clark could be recognized.
