Franklin County approves application to State Comptroller for Kushaqua Dam repairs estimated at $300,000

The Legislature reviewed a feasibility study and an engineering report prepared by Blue Mountain Engineering, PLLC, and determined the proposed improvements — at an estimated cost of $300,000 — are in the public interest and will not unduly burden benefitted properties. Under County Law Section 268, the County must seek State Comptroller approval when improvements are financed by district bonds/notes or exceed certain cost thresholds; the resolution authorized the chair and counsel to finalize and submit the application and provide additional information as requested. The Clerk was advised that the engineer’s report was filed and made available for public inspection.
The motion to authorize submission of the State Comptroller application was adopted unanimously during the June 7 session.
