Veteran‑honor banners, car show and chili cook‑off pitched to Oakdale council

McCarti said Pacific Project Heroes has run hometown-hero banners on Third Street for the last two years and that the hardware is in place for another season.
"The banners will run from Memorial Day weekend till Veterans Day," McCarti said, and he thanked the council for its prior support. He also announced the group's first time organizing a car-show and chili cook-off on April 18, starting at 9:00 a.m., to be held at the 50s Roadhouse in Nights Ferry; he invited council members and the public to attend and noted participating veterans groups and a planned booth from Real Heroes to share information on veterans services.
Council members had no questions and expressed appreciation for the program and the event invitation. McCarti provided contact information and said he had emailed staff to confirm pole locations for banner installation and would follow up as needed.
