Youth Baseball Advances to State Tournament; Registrations, Camps and Adult Leagues Update

Mr. Chuck Morris provided the commission with a rundown of youth and adult sports. He said a 10U recreation baseball team progressed from the District Tournament to the State Tournament, and a 13–16‑year‑old team recently completed its season against area opponents. Youth football and cheerleading registrations are open and a football camp is scheduled Aug. 4–7 for grades 2–7; Morris said last year more than 100 children participated in youth football and cheer activities.
On adult sports, Morris said adult church‑league softball is the biggest recent season with nine teams but tournament games have been delayed by rain. Staff are working to grow adult volleyball. Morris also reported proposed adult sports additions such as kickball and noted that flag football is planned to come to RU in fall 2026.
The commission did not vote on programming changes at this meeting; staff will continue registrations, programming and seek Joint Commission approval where required.
