Main Street reported to the council on first‑quarter activity for January through March 2025, highlighting private investment in downtown façades, grant reimbursements and volunteer support for events.
Katie Chaslock, representing Main Street, said three façade projects are complete and the program still has about $20,000 available for reimbursements, which the organization expects to distribute before June. She told council members that private investment frequently exceeded the $2,500 matching grants, which in many cases incentivized property owners to repair and improve storefronts.
Chaslock also noted public investment through business grants and facade reimbursements and said volunteer hours were lower than the same period last year because many volunteers had been deployed to prepare the bank building for a New Year's fundraiser. She announced that Janice Drugs won the local business‑pitch competition and will represent Centreville in a state‑level contest.
Council members thanked Main Street for the report and asked that staff keep the council updated as projects are completed and reimbursements are issued.
