El Rio/Del Norte MAC approves minutes and 2026 calendar; Supervisor Long’s office shares pavement-project info

The El Rio/Del Norte Municipal Advisory Council unanimously approved its Oct. 16 meeting minutes and adopted the MAC calendar for 2026 at its Nov. 20 meeting, actions taken by voice vote.
Julie Hupp moved to approve the Oct. 16 minutes; Lorane Bailon seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Later, Bonnie Bernal moved to approve the council’s 2026 calendar; Brenda Heredia seconded and the calendar was also approved unanimously.
Ariana Castellanos of Supervisor Kelly Long’s office handed out information sheets about the Caltrans Vineyard Avenue pavement project and told attendees to follow Caltrans District 7 for updates. During public comment, Sherry from the Albert H. Soliz library encouraged community participation in the library’s strategic-plan survey, and Principal Garcia of Rio Plaza spoke about increased graffiti near the school. Council members also announced local events: Julie Hupp noted a fundraiser at the Santa Clara Chapel on Nov. 22, and Brenda Heredia noted the 'Santa to the Sea' event on Dec. 14.
The meeting adjourned at 8:01 p.m. The agenda lists the next meeting as Jan. 15, 2025; that date appears to predate this meeting and may be a typographical error in the agenda materials.
