The Avenal City Council provisionally approved the recognized-obligation payment schedule (ROPS) for fiscal year 2025–26 at its Jan. 9 meeting, directing staff to finalize and file the precise debt-service numbers when the city’s financial consultants produce the updated spreadsheet.
Staff explained that two outstanding infrastructure bonds remain — one nearing payoff this year and another with about 10 years remaining — and that the county requires the schedule no later than Jan. 22. Consultants at Price Page & Company were delayed by the holidays and had not delivered the final numeric schedule by the meeting. Council approved the resolution with an amendment allowing staff to submit the final figures and to bring the ratified schedule back to the council for confirmation.
At the meeting the council recorded the vote as passed by roll call. Staff said the final schedule will reflect updated administrative components and debt-service line items and will be filed with the county before the Jan. 22 deadline.
