Chair stated the project's price tag: "The ask is the price tag of the project is $20,000," and asked whether the town could reallocate budgeted funds or use unappropriated fund balance to cover the cost.
Staff member explained that consolidated funding applications (CFA) and other grant programs typically require a preliminary sewer study to qualify and that CFAs come out in June with mid‑July deadlines. The board discussed redirecting funds previously budgeted for traffic‑control devices (noting a small allocation for traffic cameras) to pay the study cost; the chair said the comptroller will prepare a dual budget transfer at the next meeting to move funds from traffic control to the sewer study if the board approves.
Staff noted the high engineering lift for the Red Rock area (grinder pumps and related costs) and said if a sewer district forms later, the district could repay study costs. The board agreed to consider the transfer and to have materials prepared in time for the CFA application window.
