Van Buren supervisors approve ordinance change, liens, licenses and audit engagement; claims and reports accepted

Ordinance action: The board recorded third consideration and approval of Van Buren County Ordinance #2013-2, Amendment #13 (Mt. Sterling Sewer System Rate Ordinance) with votes Waugh—Aye, House—Aye, Meek—Aye.
Special assessments: The county treasurer was authorized to place special assessment liens for delinquent Mt. Sterling sewer accounts against five properties (Samuel & Meghan Boley — $145.24; Cresten Downey — $265.71; IAT 56 LLC/Perez — $145.24; Gary Shelton — $145.24; Nicole Trout — $145.24). Motion by Meek, seconded by House; Ayes: 3.
Licenses: The board approved a Class E retail alcohol license (automatic annual renewal) for Douds Kwik Stop (TnT Wheeldon, Inc.) and a five-day Special Class C retail alcohol license with outdoor service for Wine About It, Lone Tree. Motions passed 3–0.
Audit and claims: The board authorized the chairman and county auditor to sign an engagement letter with Anderson, Larkin & Co., P.C., Ottumwa, for the FY2026 county audit at a cost not to exceed $30,000, with an additional $2,500 if a Single Audit is required. The board also approved listed claims and acknowledged the 3rd Quarter FY2026 Recorder fees report. A 4-year Manure Management Plan update for Larry Angstead (Facility #60509) was acknowledged.
