Hobbs commission approves $463,500 in economic development funding and awards FY26 audit contract

The Hobbs City Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to fund local economic development organizations and to award an audit contract for fiscal year 2026.
Resolution 7766, which appropriates $463,500 in FY2627 funding for the Economic Development Corporation, the Hobbs Chamber of Commerce and the Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce, was moved by Commissioner Chris Mills and seconded by Commissioner Penick. The motion passed 6-0.
Later in the meeting Assistant Finance Director Deb Corral presented the results of RFP 56326 to furnish audit services for fiscal year 2026. Corral said the city received two responsive proposals; an evaluation team (Todd Randall, Toby Spears and Corral) rated Patillo, Brown & Hill the highest with a score of 100, and Carr, Riggs & Ingram was deemed unresponsive because of a mailing error. Corral recommended awarding audit services with a total compensation of $72,970. Commissioner Penick moved approval; Commissioner Girth seconded, and the commission approved the award 6-0.
"The team evaluated Patillo, Brown, and Hill as the highest rated proposer with a score of 100," Corral said.
Both votes were 6-0; commissioners made no substantive amendments and did not request further study on either item.
The commission also approved the consent agenda and a set of minutes earlier in the meeting by the same unanimous margin.
