Policy committee to let students wear solid school colors, to notify principals and parents

The policy committee of the Collin County School District Board of Trustees discussed clarifying the district dress code to explicitly allow students at schools with designated colors to wear solid-color tops in those colors, including both T-shirts and collared shirts. Chair (Speaker 2) said the change responds to requests and will be communicated to principals and parents before the next school year.
Committee members said the change will be included in materials distributed at the start of the school year so families understand acceptable solid colors. "All solid colors may be worn, and specifically, principals will be notified so that if there's any question, they can more clearly present that information to their families by the start of the school year," the chair said.
The committee agreed to present the dress-code clarification to the full board for first reading at the upcoming board meeting. No vote was recorded in the committee; this item will return to the board as a first-reading agenda item.
