The Hobbs City Commission approved Change Order No. 2 with Entrench Inc. for the Phase 12 water-line replacement project. Assistant City Manager/City Engineer Todd Randall reported that Change Order No. 1 had been $151,609.72 and that Change Order No. 2 is $202,169.51, which brings the total contract value to just over $4.4 million.
Randall described the primary drivers for the change order as unit-price extensions, additional miscellaneous items encountered when uncovering existing utilities, and a significant 12-inch water-line extension along Grime Street to improve interconnection and system upgrades. He noted that underground utility records are imperfect and additional connections are sometimes required when existing conditions are exposed.
Commissioner Mills moved and Commissioner Girth seconded approval of the change order; the commission recorded yes votes and the motion carried.
Staff will proceed with the contract adjustments and continue project oversight.
