Clovis unveils redesigned city website with calendar and subscriber alerts

Nicole Holcomb, the City of Clovis marketing and events coordinator, presented the city’s new website, clovisnm.gov, which launched March 5. She said the site includes an interchangeable-photo landing page, department header pages, integrated Facebook posts and, notably, a calendar that lists meetings and events and a "Notify Me" subscription feature that can deliver email and text alerts to users who create an account.

"You can create an account — it’s just your email — and sign up for email or text alerts," Holcomb said. She demonstrated the calendar and said staff can update individual meetings (for example to mark cancellations) and manually push notifications to subscribers when agendas or events change. She also emphasized the site is mobile-friendly and that the old address will redirect to clovisnm.gov.

Commissioners praised the calendar and notification features and asked whether agenda postings could automatically trigger subscribers’ alerts. Holcomb said she can manually send an "agenda posted" update to subscribers and that Granicus-hosted agenda pages are linked from the new site; she did not confirm an automated scheduling option. One commissioner suggested staff follow up with Granicus to enable more specific subscription choices.

Mayor and commissioners thanked Holcomb for the demonstration and encouraged residents to provide feedback about navigation and popular links as the city fine-tunes the site.

The commission took no formal vote on the website presentation; the demonstration concluded and the meeting proceeded to other agenda items.
