Clovis City Commission accepts FY25 audit with clean opinion, notes one corrected deficiency

The Clovis City Commission unanimously adopted Resolution 3369-2026 to accept the city's fiscal year 2025 audit after auditors presented a largely favorable report.
In a public presentation, the auditing team said it issued unmodified (clean) opinions on the city's financial statements and on major federal programs, and reported that the city is a low-risk auditee. The auditor said the engagement included 42 proposed adjusting journal entries that management reviewed and will record in the accounting system.
"Based on our procedures, we believe that the financials are disclosed appropriately, transparently, and consistent with GAAP and GASB," the auditor stated during the meeting. The auditor also said there was one finding: a significant deficiency related to tariff and RSC withholdings that did not rise to the level of a material weakness and had already been corrected.
Mayor Mike Morris thanked the audit team and city staff, saying the results reflect careful stewardship of public funds. Miss Melanson noted the audit documents will be posted online once final steps are completed.
The commission recorded a unanimous voice vote to adopt the resolution accepting the FY25 audit. The auditor stood for questions but the commission had none; staff said they will provide the final audit package to oversight authorities and make presentation materials available to the public.
