Red Lion Council approves repairs, grants application and routine administrative actions

At its June 9 meeting, the Red Lion Borough Council approved a string of routine public‑works and administrative actions meant to keep ongoing projects moving.
Council added and approved a $2,287 proposal from Brubacher to replace a galvanized pipe at Vulcan Lane after John Krantz reported the condition; council voted to add the proposal to the agenda and then approve the work. The borough also authorized advertisement for a refuse contract bid in anticipation of tote use requiring an ordinance update.
Public‑works motions included extending the Red Lion trail toward Hess Lane using millings as an interim surface (motion by Evan Hiester, seconded by Tony Musso), approving a handicap parking space at 306 N. Charles St., and accepting a $6,900 bid to sell a 2008 Ford 350 4x4 with plow and spreader.
In planning and zoning business, council agreed to apply for the Healing the Planet grant to plant 15 trees, and it accepted Justin Heim’s resignation from the planning commission. In administration, council appointed Amanda Runkle as an alternate Open Records officer (solicitor noted the statute does not require an alternate) and authorized application for a 2026 employee safety grant.
Council approved payment of outstanding bills and adjourned at 8:51 p.m. Mr. Klinedinst raised a request that the council communicate about a subpoena related to an alleged $65,000 fraud; the council noted the request and did not take further action during the meeting.
